I just did some major house repair---sawing thru oldstyle rock
plaster---with my Leatherman. Ha. Where's my Sawzall? OK, so now my
Leatherman is dull. Anyone know how to sharpen this saw? Doh.

Well, first you chip off tiny flakes from your honing stone, then hold
them at a 21.3736569578 degree angle to each tiny tooth....

OK, maybe not.

Probably best to get a set of needle files, wrap the narrowest one in a
small grit wet/dry carbide sandpaper, and use that, going up one side of
the saw, and back down the other at the opposite angle to get all the
teeth.

You could try a diamond-dust coated round rod like they use for serrated
blades, but they're often too thick to get in between saw teeth.

There's probably a rec.knives approved method that one of the knife
knuts will let you know about, but I've done the paper/file method to
touch up the teeth on a SAK saw, and it worked OK.

I need to get one of these, too.

Send it back to leatherman .. they will probably change the blade and give
the whole thing a tune up free of charge under their 25 year warranty .....
I had a completely knackered leatherman supertool, buggered cutters,
buggered blades, snapped awl, sent it back to them ..... got a practically
new one back for the cost of postage.

Yeah, that's what my knifeshop guy said, too. But I wanna maintain my
own stuff, man! : ) I'll probably send it in but I use it all the
time and I still want to know if it's possible to resharpen those
saws. I do my own chainsaw blade and everything else. Basically: is
there a file/stone with right shape out there? Name? Any online
how-to? --Like which faces are impt to work, etc. Thanks! --JP
