Just looking for some info on G96 Brand hunting knives. I recently got
their model 930 hunting knife from my dad's collection. (must be genetic)

I'm guessing it's at least 10 years old, but still in very good condition
(despite being sharpened way too many times)

I found their site and it looks like they only do gun products now. Also
emailed them, hopefully they'll write back.

So in the meantime, I'm hoping someone here remembers them.

Have owned several G96 folders....still have a couple. I think they,
also, used the name "Titan".....possibly for fixed blades. Many of
their knives were Buck knockoffs. My first was a Buck 110 copy. Well
made but the steel wasn't really hard.
They did a "Knifemaker's Choice" line.....steel seems to have been of
a higher quality.
Got my first one around 1973 and the last about '81.
No experience with their fixed blades
All made in Japan for the Jetaer corp in Paterson NJ as far as I know.

Have owned several G96 folders
They made a balisong that was better than the standard in the field for
1/10th the price; brass body, micarta inserts, actual metal blade <g>
A lot of the SF troopies were fadding balisongs along with everyone else
until they lost their first $300 knife- then they liked the imported ones
for sure. The stainless handled ones were good too, but I always liked the
brass and micarta
mine's an early de Asis; 1st or early 2nd year production- Wayne Potts was
the engraver.

that's good to know... any idea where i can find 10-20 year old buck pics
online? i suppose i should email buck on that one as well

here's a few specs for the g96 i have...
- blade stamped "model 930 rustproof steel japan"
- 10 5/8" overall
- 5 1/4" blade
- basically a clip point... except the tip is level with the spine
- front guard/bolster is a steel/red plastic/steel/red plastic pattern
- black, square-ish, plastic handle with the g96 logo embedded into one side
- back bolster is a thin steel/red plastic/steel/red plastic/steel pattern
- feels like it may be about 3/4 tang

any help would be appreciated... as always :)

Dear Chris,
As we have been out of the knife business for about15 years there is nobody
at the company that can answer your questions.
Regards,
Alan

you'd think they'd know their own history a little better than that
